Mesen city walk

Welcome to Belgium’s smallest city! With its 1000 inhabitants, Mesen may be the smallest by population, but in terms of attractions, it holds iconic status. This most southerly little corner of the Westhoek is situated in the West Flanders hills, right on the language border. From the top of the Sint-Niklaastoren (tower), also known as the Mesen big-head, there is a stunning view of the undulating landscape. The serenity around the many monuments and sites such as the Ireland of Island Peace Park, the New Zealand Memorial Park and the Messines Ridge British Cemetery, all reminders of a particular period in Mesen’s history spanning more than 1000 years, is extraordinary.
