Twee beken walking route

The valleys between the two streams of Markebeek and Neerbeek form the delightful backdrop to the Twee Beken footpath. The route from Marke to Bissegem takes us through a carpet of green spaces. We wander along the River Lys for a while, before making our way through the thickets to ‘t Schrijverke and past an ox-bow lake left by the Lys. As we make our way through the valleys, we learn how the flax sites of yesteryear are used today, pass by a number of shrines, and cross the Vlienderkouter beside the Courtrai-Bissegem international airport.
