IJzervallei walking network

Silence hangs a warm blanket over the villages along the Yser . As we wander along the network of footpaths and trails, we make acquaintance with both banks of the Yser . We follow towpaths and pause to watch the sheep grazing. Low-tra c routes guide us through the wetlands. Channels, streams and ditches drain water naturally into the Yser . We fi nd our way to the French frontier, here known as ‘de Schreve’, along old smuggler’s paths and charming bridges. We taste a little ‘local colour’ and Westhoek’s lively traditions in the traditional pubs and buzzing breweries.
